You bought the lock. We fit it to your door, line up the bolt so the motor is not fighting the frame, and set up the codes and the app with you.
Next Phase Electric installs smart locks and keyless deadbolts in homes across South King and Pierce County: Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, August, Wyze, Ultraloq and others. A smart lock replaces or attaches to the deadbolt you already have and runs on batteries, so there is no wiring and no permit. The part that matters is the fit: if the bolt rubs the frame, the motor strains, the batteries die in weeks and the lock jams. We fix the alignment first, then install the lock and set it up on your phone.
All of them go on a standard deadbolt door.
Replaces the whole deadbolt. Codes for the family, lock and unlock from your phone, a log of who came in. Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, Wyze, Ultraloq.
Fits over the inside of the deadbolt you have. Outside looks the same and your keys still work. August and similar. Good for renters.
Touch to open, with a keypad and a key as backup. Handy for kids who lose keys and hands full of groceries.
Electric strikes and wired keypads for a gate, a shop or a side door. These need low-voltage power, and running that is our trade.
Three things we check before the old lock comes off.
Smart deadbolts fit a standard 2-1/8 inch hole set 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches from the door edge, in a door 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches thick. Older or custom doors sometimes need the hole enlarged. We measure first.
If you have to push or pull the door to lock it, a motor cannot do it for you. We adjust the strike plate and deepen the bolt pocket in the frame so the bolt slides the full inch with no rub.
Some locks have Wi-Fi built in. Others use Bluetooth and need a small plug-in bridge near the door, or a smart home hub. We check which yours is and that the signal reaches the door.
The same lock, three different reasons.
| What changes | What you set up | |
|---|---|---|
| Families | No more lost keys or hiding one under the mat. The door locks itself behind the kids. | A code per person, auto-lock, an alert when someone gets home. |
| Rentals and guests | A new code for every guest or tenant instead of rekeying. Nobody keeps a copy. | Codes that start and expire on set dates, changed from your phone. |
| Parents and caregivers | Let a caregiver or a neighbour in without handing out a key, and check the door is locked from anywhere. | One code per helper, a log of when it was used, remote lock. |
We install the lock you bought. We are an electrical contractor, not a dealer for any brand.

Almost always. It needs a standard deadbolt hole: 2-1/8 inches across, 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches from the door edge, in a door 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches thick. If your door has no deadbolt yet, we can bore a wood or fiberglass door for one.
Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, August, Wyze, Ultraloq, Sifely, Hornbill, SMONET and most other deadbolt-style smart locks. Tell us the model when you book and we will confirm it suits your door.
A SimpliSafe lock fits over a standard deadbolt and we can mount and align it; you pair it in the SimpliSafe app. Vivint locks are installed and programmed by Vivint as part of their system, so call them for those.
A retrofit lock such as August keeps your existing deadbolt and keys. Kwikset SmartKey models can be matched to an existing Kwikset key on the spot. Other brands need a locksmith to rekey, and we tell you that before you buy.
You get weeks of low-battery warnings on the keypad and in the app first. If they do run flat, most locks have a key, a 9-volt contact or a USB port on the outside to get you in. Expect six to twelve months from a set of batteries when the bolt is aligned properly.
No. A battery smart lock needs neither. Only wired electric strikes and gate keypads need low-voltage power, and we handle that when the job calls for it.
It depends on the door: a straight swap is quick, a door that needs the hole enlarged or the frame adjusted takes longer. You get the exact price after we look, before any work starts.
