You bought the doorbell. We mount it straight, wire it to the right transformer, keep your chime ringing and set it up on your phone.
Next Phase Electric installs Ring, Google Nest, Eufy, Arlo, Wyze and other video doorbells in homes across South King and Pierce County. Most installs take about an hour: we test the doorbell transformer, replace it if it is too small, mount and wire the doorbell, fit the chime power kit if the model needs one, and connect it to your Wi-Fi and your account. If the house has no doorbell wiring, we add it or hardwire a battery model so it stays charged.
We tell you which one is yours before we start.
The old button comes off, the video doorbell goes on the same two wires. We test the voltage first so it does not drop offline a week later.
A battery Ring or Nest connected to doorbell wiring trickle-charges itself. No ladder, no dead doorbell in January.
We run a new low-voltage line from a transformer, or power the doorbell from a plug-in adapter with the cable hidden. Your call, priced both ways.
Older homes have a 10 VA transformer. A video doorbell wants more. We swap it for the right size and fit the chime kit so the bell still rings.
Three things decide whether it works on day one and still works in a year.
Most wired video doorbells need 16 to 24 volts. Plenty of older transformers put out 10 volts or 10 VA, enough for a button but not for a camera. That is the usual reason for a low-power warning or a doorbell that reboots at night.
Mechanical and digital chimes behave differently, and several doorbells need a small power kit wired in at the chime. Without it the chime buzzes, rings on its own or does nothing.
The doorbell sits outside, behind a wall, at the far end of the house from the router. We check the signal at the door before we mount anything and tell you if it needs help.
Both work. They suit different houses.
| Hardwired | Battery only | |
|---|---|---|
| Charging | Never. It runs off the transformer. | Take it down and charge it every few months, more often in cold weather. |
| Your chime | Rings the chime already in the house. | Needs a plug-in chime, or rings on your phone only. |
| Recording | Can record before the button is pressed on models that support it. | Wakes on motion, so the first second or two is often missed. |
| Best for | Any house with doorbell wires, or one where we can add them. | Rentals, brick with no wiring path, or a door far from power. |
We install the doorbell you bought. We are an electrical contractor, not a dealer for any brand.

Yes. We either run a new low-voltage line from a transformer to the door, power the doorbell from a plug-in adapter with the cable hidden, or mount a battery model and add a plug-in chime. We price the options and you pick.
Not always. A battery doorbell on wood siding is a two-screw job. People call us when the wall is brick, stucco or fiber-cement, when the angle needs a wedge to see the porch, when they want it hardwired so it stops needing a charge, or when they would simply rather not.
In most houses, yes. Some doorbells need a power kit at the chime and a few digital chimes are not compatible. We check the chime before we start and tell you.
Almost always an undersized transformer, sometimes a weak Wi-Fi signal at the door. We measure both. A transformer swap is a short job and fixes the first one for good.
Swapping a doorbell on its existing low-voltage wires does not need one. If the job needs new line-voltage wiring, such as a new outlet or a transformer in a new location, we pull the L&I electrical permit as part of the job.
Yes, on your phone and in your own account. We connect it to your Wi-Fi, set the motion zones with you and show you how to share access. We do not keep a login.
It depends on the wiring that is already there. You get the exact price after we test it, before any work starts, and you approve it first.
