Not one room — roughly half of everything, all over the house. That is a lost leg at the service. Call now.
Three causes cover almost every call we get for this.
One pole of the main has failed open. Replace the main.
A corroded or loose connection at the meter or main lugs. Common in older homes and after storms.
A splice at the pole or a damaged service drop. We confirm, then you call PSE with the right words.
Takes a minute, costs nothing, fixes it more often than you would think.
Check whether the main breaker is fully ON. Do not open the panel cover.
Still happening? That's our job.
A lost leg with a loose neutral can put 180–240 volts on half your outlets.

Right parts, tested under load, next connection checked so it does not come back.
When roughly half the outlets and lights across the whole house are dead — not one room, but a mix everywhere — and 240-volt appliances like the dryer or range are weak or dead, one of the two 120-volt legs feeding your panel has dropped. The break is at the main breaker, the meter base, the service mast, or the utility connection. Unplug sensitive electronics (a lost leg often comes with a loose neutral, which sends high voltage to the other half) and call now; we find whether it is your side or the utility's and get it fixed or escalated.
Call us. If the fault is on the utility side we tell you immediately, and you call PSE knowing exactly what to say. If it is on your side, PSE will not touch it anyway.

Exact price after we find the fault, before any work starts.
That is the loose neutral: the half of the house that still has power is getting more than 120 V. Unplug electronics now.
