The breaker says fine. The outlet says dead. One thirty-second check, then it is an electrician's job.
Three causes cover almost every call we get for this.
One GFCI in a bathroom, the garage or outside often protects outlets in other rooms. When it trips, those go dead and no breaker moves.
Push-in connections on 1980s–2000s outlets loosen with age. The outlet that failed is usually working; the dead one is next in line.
Contacts spread, plugs fall out, then it stops conducting. Replaced with a tamper-resistant outlet wired to the screw terminals.
Takes a minute, costs nothing, fixes it more often than you would think.
Press RESET on every GFCI outlet in the house — bathrooms, kitchen, garage, outside, laundry.
Push the breaker fully OFF, then ON. A tripped breaker can sit in a position that looks on.
Still happening? That's our job.
If the GFCIs and the breaker are fine, the fault is a loose or burnt connection behind a cover plate on a live circuit — and a connection loose enough to kill an outlet has usually been arcing.

Right parts, tested under load, next connection checked so it does not come back.
When an outlet is dead and no breaker has tripped, it is usually a GFCI outlet somewhere else on the circuit that tripped, a loose connection in an upstream outlet, or an outlet that has worn out. The GFCI takes thirty seconds to check. The other two are behind cover plates on a live circuit, often in a different room, and that is a licensed electrician's job — most are found and fixed in one visit.
Usually same day or next day. A technician reaches out within 1 business hour to confirm a window.
You get the exact price after we find the fault and before any work starts. You approve it first — no surprises.
A dead outlet itself is not. The loose connection behind it can be: it arcs, heats, and is a common start point for outlet fires. If the cover plate is warm or discolored, turn the breaker off and call now.
Almost always. Our vans carry outlets, GFCIs and the common breakers, so finding and fixing happens in the same hour.
